Health is Easy to Reach - Know Before You Decide

Medicine is to heal from the inside

Getting Old without Aging

First of all, I would like to say happy new year to all of us. Perhaps some of us, have a certain hope or dream that wish to be achieved.

Well, let's take a look at different point of view. From year to year, we as living creature are getting older. Most of our body function decline, and for those who are in their 40's, aging process will dominate against the growth process. For those who are in their peak performance, soon will realize this won't stay for long time, since aging process will decline the function.

A lot of theories about aging process, but it is still difficult to stop the process. Aging is not a disease, it's a normal physiological response as part of living creature. But, how come there is different in aging process? We can see that some elderly still active eventhough they are very old, while the others lost their independency and need caretaker.

aging process

This is a unique phenomena, that occurs in our live. The quality of aging is more important rather than thinking about stopping aging process. Quality of life during old ages, may become health concern in Western society, since they tend to be more independent. While in Asian society, elderly tends to be more dependent by the situation, since elderly is be thought to be incapable.

With the growth of economics, people reach top positions at younger ages, thus they would like to maintain their performance and afraid of aging. Also, with the development of medicine and health technologies, people could live longer. Thus aging related problems could occur.

The main question is: Could we getting old without aging?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. Aging is a normal process, we can't avoid that. But, we can improve the quality of aging. From the theories about aging, we could interfere aging with many factors. But the key to have a good aging, begin with a good growth. It means that during the growth period, we have to maintain our health and reach the peak of our health. Eventhough some of our body functions become decline with age, but we still able to compensate it.

Modern technologies have brought us to sedentary lifestyle, but it would haste the degeneration process. Since the peak of our health isn't reach, and our body isn't trained to adaptive to declining function.
Aging with Quality

With healthy lifestyle and routine exercise, it will help to us to maintain and reach a better health condition during our aging process. And also could prevent aging-related diseases. So, it's simple actually. Just doing exercise and healthy lifestyle in daily life.

So, what are you waiting for? Let's do some exercises.

New Hope for Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer is malignant growth of breast tissue usually within milk ducts. Breast is sensual part of women, that part of their attractiveness, and increase women confidence. But the bad news is breast is the common place for cancer to growth. From the stastisic, breast cancer rank about top incidence cancer in women. And also rank as top leading cause of death in cancer patients.

With the development of current knowledges and researchs by scientists, there is an improvement in health care, diagnostic procedures, treatment options for breast cancer.

Cancer Growth
Cancer is genetic disease, since the main problem is located in cell nuclei. Cell begin to growth out of control, and demand more nutrient compare to other tissues. There are lot of theory explaning cancer growth. Cancer cell is not an instant process eventhough they growth so fast.

Cancer cell usually need a serial of DNA damaged as initiation, beside this they also need a promotor for their growth during early phase. At this phase, cancer cell also difficult to detect, and cause no symptoms. But after serial of replication their gaining more capabilities and behave more aggresively. Thus make cancer grows bigger and invasive to other tissues.

Metastasis as part of cancer characteristics that differentiate it from benign tumor. Metastasis is a capability of cancer cell to migrate and growth at different site from the primary site.

Cancer which has already metastasis, has worse prognosis compare to none. Commonly the patient with metastasis is in terminal stage, and the patient mostly treated palliatively.

New Hope in Breast Cancer
As, I describe above about the cancer growth. Cancer deaths about 90% are due to the spread of breast cancer. Commonly metastasis of the breast cancer cell is located in the lungs.
Hope in Breast Cancer

Nowadays, a breakthrough in knowledge, that the researchers have discovered the switch that enables breast cancer cells to travel to and be received in the lungs.

Metastasis was long thought a late event in cancer progression, but now is have been shown to be an early event that is dependent on HIF-1. HIF-1 itself a protein that controls genes that enable cells to survive in low oxygen, like cells in solid tumors.

In order for breast cancer cells to spread to lungs, they must leave the breast, enter blood vessels that lead to the lungs, and exit those same vessels. Blood vessels are pretty tight, a cell has to work pretty hard to get through the vessel wall. HIF-1 triggers the lung tissue to prepare for arriving breast cancer cells, and it also has role in helping cells to get access to blood vessels for their migration.

Lastly, a few years ago, John Hopkins research team found that digitalis/digoxin, commonly used to treat irregular heartbeats, can block HIF-1 production and can stop liver and prostate cancer cells from growing. And from their research they conclude that digitalis/digoxin could be use in treatment of breast cancer, since it has role in blocking HIF-1 and slow breast cancer growth and metastasis.

Eventhough, the research isn't finished yet. But, the hope that it bring for future, maybe could improve human health. Innovation is needed, we can't keep doing with same methods and hoping the different result.

We can't rely our life on dream or hope without efforts, but the people who has dream are innovative ones.

Different Aspect of Death

Death is Nature's master stroke, albeit a cruel one in mankind life. When the time comes in the life of any organ or person when it is better to start again from scratch rather than carry on with the weight and muddle of endless accretions.

Our bodies and minds are these perishable phenotypes, which always turns to scum, on the wave of our genes.

Death is one of Nature's great insults that she should prefer to put all her eggs in the basket of a defenceless, incompetent neonate rather than in the tried and tested custody of our own superb minds. But as our brain start to degenerates and that baby walks to a wisdom that eludes us, we are forced to give Nature credit for her daring idea. Of course, nature, in her careless way, can get it wrong; people often die in wrong order.

Medicine or health care main roles is to prevent this misordering or death, not the phenomenon of death itself. Death is inevitable phenomenon of living creatures, we as human have to consider and accept it.

Nowadays, there are severals phenomenon of the death:
- Most of people dying at the hospital, the incidence far more common than vehicle-accident.
- With the improve of medicine, we can easily know about the prognosis or survival rate of certain disease.
- Chronic unconscious patients are really conflicting whether he/she still alive or not.
- Euthanasia, medical approved death by patient's own will.
Help Them to Die with Dignity

Facing the Death
Those phenomenon that i described, maybe just a few of situations that occur around us related to death. In this article, i will described about death related to medicine.

Most of the patients with terminal disease or end-stage disease, will hear a story that they wouldn't have to hear that. They will be told about their illness conditions and prognosis, most of them are told about their life expectancy.
The common phrase "You would be die in 6 months."

I think that everyone will act about the same at first time, they know that they will die in short time. Knowing that death in coming in short time, put them into psychological stress.

Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, a Swiss psychiatrist did landmark work with the terminally ill patient in the 1960's which resulted in the establishment of a "cycle" that she found each patient went through upon learning of their imminent death.
- The first reaction was shock. The universal first reaction to hearing the news was, "No."
- The second stage that quickly followed was denial. "This can't be happening to me."
- The third stage was anger. This anger was usually directed at God, nature, or luck, but needed to be understood by the family because it usually became directed at them at some point.
- The fourth stage was bargaining. The patient typically hoped that God would extend their life or cure them in exchange for promised behavior.
- The fifth stage was grieving. This is usually the longest lasting stage of the cycle and is marked by deep depression and mood changes.
- The final stage was acceptance. Once this stage is reached, the patient usually used whatever time remaining to "put their house in order." There was a marked peace in the patient's mood. Death was not a feared event.

Back to the begining of this article, death is phenomenon of living creature, we can't avoid, or decide to die in certain way (except suicide).

The concept of dying with dignity has established, and accepted, as the better way to treat or manage the patient with dignity. Maybe the disease can't cure, but the suffering has to be relieved.

The way to help the people to die with dignity, is begin by helping them to accept the death, by findings livings will, or main concern, and help them to find the solutions for their problems. If we can explore patients inner emotions, actually they aren't fear about the death, but they are worried about someone or something else that will be abandonned if he/she died.

Besides dealing in psychological supports, the disease also has to managed in order to relieve the suffering, such as pain-relief medications.

At the end of this article, i would like to say that people with terminal disease are very sensitive about the death issues, but caring them with love and passion help them to die with dignity.

Healthy, enjoyable eating

"There's a lot of people in this world who spend so much time watch their health that they haven't the time to enjoy it."

There are no good or bad food, and no universally good or bad diets. We must consider diet out of context with a desired lifestyle, and nor should we assume that everyone wants to be thin, healthy, and live forever. If we are walking to the South Pole, our bodies need a diet as full of energy-rich fat as possible; while taking another kind of food would be a waste of space. But if we live a sedentary life, the converse is not necessarily true
